La dystrophine est importante pour la sant\u00e9 musculaire et contribue \u00e0 \u00e9viter l\u2019usure des muscles entra\u00een\u00e9e par les mouvements. Les mutations du g\u00e8ne DMD induisent une r\u00e9duction de la production de dystrophine. Les muscles ont alors tendance \u00e0 s\u2019ab\u00eemer progressivement et \u00e0 \u00eatre remplac\u00e9s par du tissu cicatriciel (fibrose) et de la graisse, ce qui entra\u00eene une fonte et une faiblesse musculaires.<\/p>\n<p>Le givinostat bloque les histones d\u00e9sac\u00e9tylases (HDAC), des enzymes qui d\u00e9sactivent le g\u00e8ne et peuvent compromettre la capacit\u00e9 des cellules musculaires \u00e0 se r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rer, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire \u00e0 se r\u00e9parer d\u2019elles-m\u00eames.
