La dystrophine est importante pour la sant\u00e9 musculaire et aide \u00e0 pr\u00e9venir l\u2019usure des muscles lorsque vous bougez. Les mutations du g\u00e8ne DMD causent une diminution de la production de dystrophine par l\u2019organisme. Sans cette prot\u00e9ine, les muscles peuvent \u00eatre endommag\u00e9s au fil du temps et remplac\u00e9s par du tissu cicatriciel (fibrose) et de la graisse. Cela entra\u00eene une perte de masse musculaire et une faiblesse.<\/p>\n<p>Le givinostat bloque des enzymes appel\u00e9es histones d\u00e9sac\u00e9tylases (HDAC), qui inhibent l\u2019activit\u00e9 des g\u00e8nes et peuvent affecter la capacit\u00e9 des cellules musculaires \u00e0 se r\u00e9parer (r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration).
